Filipe Sosa, PhD in Chemical Engineering, is a Researcher at the Aveiro Institute of Materials – CICECO, University of Aveiro. His research focuses on the application of alternative solvents for sustainable chemical processes, including
biorefinery development and lignin valorization as a sustainable alternative to petroleum-derived compounds. Combining computational thermodynamics (COSMO-RS) with experimental approaches, Dr. Sosa has advanced solutions for
recycling and biomass utilization, particularly through the use of alternative solvents such as deep eutectic solvents, ionic liquids, and bio-based solvents.
